Workshop Operating Guide

How to use
  1. Initial Setup & Inspection: Insert the included AAA batteries into the rear compartment. Inspect the test leads for any signs of damage before connecting the black lead to the COM terminal and the red lead to the appropriate voltage/resistance terminal.
  2. Selecting the Test Mode: Turn the rotary dial to your desired testing function (e.g. DC Voltage for battery checks, Ohms for resistance, or the continuity diode symbol for circuit tracing). The auto-ranging function will automatically select the optimal measurement scale.
  3. Testing Vehicle Voltage & Battery Health: For a standard 12V battery check, place the red probe on the positive terminal and the black probe on the negative terminal. Ensure the engine is off for resting voltage (aiming for 12.6V) or running to check alternator charging output (aiming for 13.8V to 14.4V).
  4. Continuity & Earth Checking: Switch to the continuity setting. Touch the probes across fuses, switch contacts, or earth straps. A clear audible beep confirms an intact, low-resistance electrical pathway.
  5. Temperature Measurement: Remove the standard test leads and insert the K-type thermocouple adapter. Place the probe tip against heating pipes, air conditioning vents, or coolant housings to read direct temperatures in Celsius or Fahrenheit.

What UK Mechanics Say

As an independent mobile auto electrician, I need a reliable car electrical automotive digital multimeter that doesn't cost a fortune to replace if it gets dropped in a puddle. The UT107+ has been absolutely brilliant. The True RMS accuracy is spot on when checking alternator ripple, and the display is incredibly crisp even in dark footwells. Highly recommended.

I bought this specifically as an automotive digital multimeter for battery checks and tracking down a nightmare parasitic drain on my Land Rover. The 10A current rating handled the testing effortlessly, and the auto-ranging is super fast. Next day delivery from AutoTrue was a massive bonus.

A very solid, professional automotive digital multimeter for vehicle repair. The voltage and resistance readings are exactly in line with my colleague's £400 Fluke meter. My only minor gripe is that the continuity beep could be a touch louder when I'm working in a busy workshop with air tools running in the background, but otherwise it's a fantastic piece of kit.

Fantastic value for money. I run a small MOT and repair garage, and we use this diagnostic automotive digital multimeter every single day. The K-type temperature probe is a superb addition for checking air con output and sticking thermostats. It feels incredibly rugged and well-made.

Great mechanic automotive digital multimeter. I use it mostly for tracing broken wiring looms and testing relay circuits. The test leads are of very good quality, though they can feel slightly stiff when I first open the toolbox on a freezing winter morning. Once warmed up, they're perfect. Excellent service from AutoTrue.

I restore classic British sports cars and needed a dedicated automotive digital multimeter for resistance testing on old Lucas ignition systems and coil packs. The UT107+ provides excellent resolution at low ohms, allowing me to identify failing windings instantly. A genuinely professional tool at a DIY price.

Frequently Asked Questions

Founded by veteran garage technicians in the West Midlands, AutoTrue was established to solve a persistent frustration in the UK motor trade: the glaring gap between cheap, inaccurate hobbyist multimeters and eye-wateringly expensive flagship brand testers. We realised that independent workshops, mobile auto electricians, and serious driveway mechanics needed specialist diagnostic accuracy without paying a premium solely for a yellow or red brand badge.

Our mission is simple: to provide purpose-built automotive testing instruments that thrive in real workshop environments. By partnering directly with world-class tool manufacturers like UNI-T, we curate, test, and distribute dedicated true RMS multimeters that are specifically calibrated for vehicle electrical architectures. Whether you are tracing a parasitic battery drain, testing CAN-bus sensor voltages, or checking alternator diode ripple, our tools deliver fast, repeatable actual value readings.

Operating from our UK distribution centre, we pride ourselves on exceptional local support, full UKCA and CE safety compliance, and a rock-solid 2-year warranty. At AutoTrue, we believe that professional diagnostic confidence should be accessible to every skilled technician and passionate car enthusiast across Britain.
